You & Blue was started up by Rachel Deborré in 2020 to create products designed to have an impact on mental health. It started with a book, Harriet and the Blue Monkey, which she created to help children recognize and understand sad feelings which can lead to depression. She created the book based on her own experiences of depression over the last 15 years and worked with a child psychologist and primary years educators to make it accurate but also exciting. From there she has grown the business to include a range of mental health greetings cards designed to help someone be there for someone they know even when they're not quite sure of what to say. The ultimate goal of You & Blue is to create products that promote better mental health for all through discussion, understanding and education. They are products to create a kinder world.

Local NEO women-owned businesses:

Thank Dog NEO

Thank Dog Boot Camp was started in 2007 by a pair of sisters in Burbank California. They felt bad leaving their dogs at home to go work out, and knew that their dogs could greatly benefit from getting exercise as well.

Thank Dog Boot Camp offers group fitness classes for people and their dogs. It pairs cardio and weight training for people with obedience training dogs. Classes are an hour long, offered outdoors in parks April through October, and at a few select indoor locations November through March.

Franchise owner Heidi Braun says, “Thank Dog Boot Camp in Northeastern Ohio came about 9 years ago after I adopted a very energetic dog. I work full time and had always spent at least an hour every evening at the gym. It wasn’t fair to my new 4-legged companion to be cooped up in the house all day and all evening. Walking around the neighborhood wasn’t enough of a workout for me. So I went in search of something that would work for both of us. When I came across Thank Dog Boot Camp I knew it was the answer for both of us. Figuring I wasn’t the only one with this problem, I brought Thank Dog Boot Camp to Cleveland’s east side.”

We focus on teaching the whole child and not just the athlete to better prepare them for school and life in general. It helps kids improve gross and fine motor skills, flexibility, strength, and coordination. It also teaches so many important life lessons such as perseverance and hard work.
